Recipe: Pumpkin Spiced Blizzard Bowl

Jump to recipe

Another smoothie recipe that replicates a dessert favorite! This time it is the blizzard. You know the one. So thick you can dump it upside down and nothing drips and is filled with crunchy toppings. That is the one that this pumpkin spiced smoothie bowl was created after.

We are able to purchase organic, unsweetened pumpkin puree year round. I love that it is accessible not just around the holidays because it has become quite a staple in some of my favorite smoothie recipes.

This smoothie also offers a new-to-me ingredient: Pique Tea Cinnamon Herbal Fasting Tea . The cinnamon, burgamot and mint in this tea pull in the BEST fall vibes in this recipe. Side note, I drink about 10 different kinds of Pique Tea. If you have not already tried this brand of tea, its a must. My top three are: Sun Goddess Matcha, Cinnamon Herbal Fasting Tea and Passion Fruit Green.

Back to this smoothie, because it is a good one! Be prepared for the ingredient list because it is kind of a kitchen sink smoothie. While we keep all these ingredients on hand, you can pare this down and add what you have. As always, this is more about the method than precision in the recipe. If you ever have questions about substitutions just leave me a comment below or you can find me over on instagram.

The protein powder I love is from Nuzest. After 7 years of smoothie making, it is the only one I order for our family. We choose the smooth vanilla flavor and our entire crew loves it!

The other ingredient that we have to order online for this smoothie is the Sea Salt Caramel Cashew Butter from Once Again Nut Butter. The flavor is perfectly salted caramel and we order this directly from Once Again Nut Butter. We found it locally for a while, but once our local store stopped selling it we went directly to the source and now buy 4 jars at a time. It is exceptional!

With the subtle pumpkin pie flavor, crazy thick texture (frozen squash, frozen pumpkin and ice) and mixed in toppings you will 100% feel like you just cruised through DQ for a treat.

Let’s talk toppings for a second. I have three that I lean towards all the time: cacao nibs, almonds and coconut. They are small, mix in great so you get some in every single bite and I love eating as close to the earth as possible. These are three raw ingredients and anytime we can eat raw, we do. Based on your ingredients, this recipe can meet any nutritional goal: paleo, keto, vegan, gf, df… you name it. Smoothies are the perfect breakfast and easy to tweak based on personal needs.

You can also add your favorite granola, coco-whip, white chocolate chips, fresh berries or drizzle of melted coconut butter. The possibilities are endless! At the end of breakfast, you should have fond, joyful memories of each bite. I usually feel a little sad when I get halfway through breakfast because it is my favorite meal each day.

Happy blending, happy spooning and happy blizzard bowl time!
