Good morning!

What a fun morning and afternoon I had yesterday celebrating the Jacksonville Beach location of Native Sun’s 1 year anniversary. I had the honor of partnering with them to create, demo and share a smoothie that was both seasonal and packed a superfood punch. The recipe reminds me of apple picking, leaves changing color and the delicious smell of warm cinnamon.

You all know I am kind of a superfood junkie. My pantry is filled with different superfoods (best described as foods that fill gaps in your diet that you wouldn’t otherwise get that are incredibly nutritionally dense) that I use daily based on what I am need that day. I also have a few that I can easily hide in the smoothies for the kids that they don’t even know are there. Those are: coconut oil, chia seeds and flax meal.

These three amigos are invisible, tasteless and totally undetectable by even the most discerning tongue. Seriously. I sneak these into our kid’s smoothies daily and they have no idea that I am giving them a digestive & brain boost that are partnered with fiber, calcium, iron and essential fatty acids. This smoothie is delicious, will make you feel good and keep you feeling good for hours.

  • 2 small or 1 large Honeycrisp apples, cored & quartered

  • 1 Tbsp. each: maple syrup, gluten free oats, coconut oil, chia seeds and flax meal

  • Pinch of pink salt
  • Handful of ice cubes

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend until combined and smooth. Taste and add additional maple syrup, if needed.
