The Green Smoothie
You all know that I adore smoothies- they are a pillar of my daily nutrition and an easy way to get the nutrients I need while I am on the run. And as a mom, I am pretty much always on the run!
Green smoothies are hands-down the easiest way to sneak in some greens. I have been honing my green smoothie recipe for years, truly. As my tastes change, as seasons change so does my smoothie recipe.
For spring and summer this recipe is where I have landed and haven’t looked back. This smoothie recipe is a base for any superfood combination you want to add. It is smooth, rich, delicious and perfectly fruity (it is also vegan, gluten free, Whole30 approved!)
I promise, you will not know there is anything green in there. This smoothie is a favorite of our two kids and if they love it, I know you will, too!
So, here it goes… THE GREEN SMOOTHIE!
*makes 1 large or 2 small servings
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup nut milk (anything goes here!)
- 2 cups of spinach, kale or any other green you adore
- 1 banana, frozen
- 3/4 cup frozen mango (unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup frozen peaches (unsweetened)
- 1 Tbsp. ground flax (you can sub chia seeds or coconut oil)
- 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Directions: Blend in a high speed blender. You may need to tamp it down because this is a thick, cold and fabulous smoothie!
The lemon juice in this is an important add for two reasons: citric acid helps your body to absorb the iron in the greens and it helps to balance the sweetness of those yummy fruits.
Enjoy this recipe and let me know what you think! Happy Friday to you all!
xoxo
Thank you for sharing- always excited to try a new twist on the staple green smoothie!
