Recipe: Girl Scout Cookie Tagalong Superfood Smoothie

Its that time of year, again! The Girl Scout’s are out and selling their deliciously addictive cookies! One thing that I LOVE to do as a health coach is take classic recipe favorites and put a healthy spin on them.

I have been a part of so many conversations lately that center around Tagalongs, Samoas & Thin Mints- and how they are tempting and so hard to say no to. So, I decided to create a Superfood Smoothie for all of my old favorites. First up: TAGALONG! You know the one, the cookie with the creamy layer of peanut butter and the rich, chocolate coating:

Here is my insanely delicious, guilt-free rival! Feast your eyes on this beauty:

This is my version of a Tagalong- and has all the key players, but no refined sugars or dairy. And, its packed with superfood goodness!

Tagalong Superfood Smoothie:

  • 1 cup almond milk (use any nut milk or dairy milk you want here)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 1/2 bananas, frozen
  • 1 Tbsp. raw cacao powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Barney Butter “Bare” Smooth Almond Butter
    • you can use any nut butter you like here (cashew butter, peanut butter, sun butter)
  • 1/2 Tbsp. hemp hearts
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • optional: cacao powder & melted almond butter for the topping

Directions: Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. If you like your smoothie a little thicker you can add more ice. Pour and add the topping- the melted almond butter on the top gets gooey and amazingly delicious- please add it. You’ll thank me. Its like the fudge on top of a sundae 😉

I will be sharing more Girl Scout inspired superfood smoothies in the next few days so keep checking back! Have a beautiful weekend and thank you so much for checking out this recipe today.
