2016: What a Year

It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of 2016. I love to spend some time reflecting on life before a new year begins- what did I love, what would I have done different and how big do I dare to dream for the next year.

Over this last year, I have stopped living in a space where “ignorance is bliss” and have opened my eyes and my heart wide open to all the good, any of the bad and the stuff in between. This year has brought some of our highest highs and also periods of so. much. stress. We are not unlike any other family- we laugh together and cry together. Through it all, no matter what, we do it as an unbreakable unit.

Growing my business has been such a passion over the last year. I have had the honor of supporting and partnering with so many wonderful men and women this year to reach their goals of health. The smiles, happiness, results and comments about our program light a fire in me to continue this work and do even more. Being a health coach is a job that I love waking up to each day- each client is on their own journey and I relish the role of helping them to create goals and routines that fit into THEIR life. Creating wellness that feels like second nature.

In 2017, I will enter the corporate space. I worked at Bank of America for 5 years in Charlotte and Boston prior to having Evan. I gained so much experience in those roles and loved being a part of the Learning and Leadership Development team. Corporate learning is where I began and now I get to return to that space and coach businesses on how to create an environment where wellness is valued and employee health is a priority. I can’t wait to begin this work in January and teach skills to increase heath knowledge, encourage active lifestyles and ideally, improve employee satisfaction and productivity.

In October of this year, we had the gift of moving into our home. Michael and I began dreaming of this house long, long ago. We have moved up and down the east coast. Our home now is the 8th place we have lived together as a married couple. The move was not without a bit of drama, though. Our move in date just happened to be the Wednesday before hurricane Matthew landed in Jacksonville. So, we moved in on Wednesday, got the little one’s all tucked into their new beds, checked the news and learned that we had to evacuate the very next day. We had a scary couple of days while the storm was here, but thankfully had minimal damage and returned home to power. I will tell you that experience has me appreciating this home even more than we already did. We look forward to putting down roots, watching Evan and Edie create memories and Michael and I growing old and gray here.

Let’s talk food! This year has been one for the record books. You all know that I love food, products, cooking, eating and sharing! I feel like we ate better this year than ever before. I am so thankful for the wellness visionaries that keep on creating products, recipes and ideas with the world. Living and eating well is quite delicious!

There are some pretty incredible wellness trends coming in 2017 and I can’t wait to be a part of every. single. one. I will enter 2017 with a love of cauliflower smoothies, turmeric lattes, plant based meals, butter coffee, fermented foods, massaged kale, prioritizing self care, kombucha and dreams of meals surrounded by the one’s I love.

I hope that you all have a safe New Year’s Eve!

Wishing you wonderful health today and in 2017!

Lots of love,

BB
