recipe: superfood butter coffee

Coffee has come a long way in our house. I have talked before about how early Michael and I wake up each day- our alarm goes off at 3:50 AM.

I savor that time with him each day. We sip our coffee, watch the news (yes, there is news on that early 😉 ) and catch up with each other. I had seen so many posts over the last couple years about bulletproof coffee and never paid too much attention.

For me, my old school blend was some form of almond milk vanilla creamer and coffee. Pretty simple & did the trick.

I’ve crossed over to the other  side, though. Butter coffee has changed my mornings! It sounds so strange- butter in coffee- but the result is a foamy, almost latte looking, steaming cup of pure bliss.

You may be wondering why the butter? I did, too. Fats are our friends- in butter coffee the fats help to balance your blood sugar and slow down the metabolizing of the caffeine. Long story short, you get a steady stream of energy vs. a high and crash from a traditional cup of joe.

The superfoods I add are purely personal preference. I pick and choose adaptogens and functional foods that support my needs. Understanding what is out there and listening to your own body will help you to decide what the best superfoods are for YOU to add to your morning cup.

The goal with my morning cup: to provide wonderful energy and boost my immunity, gut health & body’s ability to destress (all benefits of the superfood additions!)

Every food that you eat can be a powerhouse if you let it- even a simple cup of coffee.

Here is the recipe that creates a foamy, delicious cup of goodness that I wake up (even at 3:50 AM) excited to drink:

ingredients:

directions: add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend on high for 1 minute.

Cheers to early mornings and perfect cups of coffee- those are two things that make my world go ’round! Have a great day!

xx

  2. Hey Tami! You put everything in a blender and just blend for 1 minute. So easy! We go to bed really early- I like to be in bed around 8:30. That gets me over 7 hours of sleep.

Thanks, I just realized I didn’t read the “blend for one minute” after the recipe haha. Is it still hot after blending? I have a nutribullet that blends hot things. i’m loving all your yummy food posts <3 have a good day!
